Orbis Marketing
Orbis Marketing provides media planning/buying services, including online display advertising, email, PPC, television, radio and print advertising. Two key elements allow us to provide exceptional value to our clients: First, we track and analyze a variety of ad metrics which are key to improving results. Second, we are able to secure ad rates below–often well below–what advertisers are able to secure on their own. The ability to secure discounted rates is a function of our ad results knowledge base and our continuous buying for multiple clients within the same vertical. Not surprisingly, as we’ve grown we’ve increased our knowledge base and increased our buying power which has, in turn, led to lower pricing; see diagram below.
Media planning services include:
- Advising on mix of direct response and brand building (based on research and client circumstances),
- Recommending specific media/publications and placements (based on our results knowledge and research),
- Placement and negotiation of rates (generally at discounted rates), and
- Tracking of results for advertising.
- Monthly reporting designed to improve results

Our Team
Jim Atkinson: Began career in financial services industry in 1979 and started in the mutual fund industry in 1985. From 1985 to 1993 served as Senior Vice President at Huntington Advisers, a mutual fund sponsor that launched the first multi- and single-currency money market funds in the US. 1993 to 2000 Managing Director for Guinness Flight Global Asset Management, a London-based asset manager and fund sponsor. Jim founded Orbis Marketing in 2001. In addition to being a managing director of Orbis Marketing, Jim also serves as the CEO of fund sponsor Guinness Atkinson Asset Management.
Erin Evans: Joined Orbis Marketing as a managing director in April 2010. Before joining Orbis, Erin managed digital media sales at Morningstar, Inc. for 9 years, creating and executing media plans for clients primarily in the financial services industry, as well as the auto, retail and travel industries. While at Morningstar, Erin handled both US and International clients, developed and managed network partners, and launched several highly effective custom sponsorship programs. Before joining Morningstar, Erin worked in the agency business for 8 years, working for digital and full-service advertising agencies, and held roles in account management, business development, copy writing, creative management and strategy. Erin received her Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University.
